David Webb has designed and made stained glass windows (leaded lights) for over twenty-five years. In addition to working directly with clients, tradesmen, architects and designers from his studio in Deptford, South East London, he has also worked assisting and in a consultancy role with numerous stained glass firms in London and the UK.
He specialises in original, unique abstract designs but can also make beautiful representational panels and any style of traditional / reproduction stained glass.
In addition, David also restores and repairs existing stained glass, including all aspects of removal and installation, as well as designing and supplying original sandblasted glass.
He advises clients on installation options and will fit completed original or restored panels traditionally, with secondary toughened glass, or by inserting into double- glazed units.
Each new panel is bespoke, using traditional methods and the highest quality materials.
David has a parallel practice in painting and has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in the UK and internationally, including the National Portrait Gallery, The Royal Academy of Arts and the Jerwood drawing and painting prizes. His work is held in public collections, including the National Library of Wales and the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. His paintings influence and inform his stained glass, building on the rich tradition of painters – Matisse, Chagall and Braque, for example – working in stained glass.
